Mackay, Ernest

 

Born July 5, 1880; died Oct. 2, 1943. British historian and archaeologist.

In 1927-31 and 1935-36, Mackay directed the excavations at Mohenjo-Daro, Chanhu-Daro, and other sites. The results of the excavations contributed much to the understanding of ancient Hindu civilization.
