A commercialisable deactivated yeast, usually Saccharomyces cerevisiae, which is grown for 7 days using sugarcane and beetroot as the primary nutrients, then washed, dryed and packaged. It is regarded as a low-fat, low-sodium healthy food product and typically consumed by vegetarians.
