Maternal School
(1) The first stage in the pedagogical system of the czech educator J. A. Komensky (Comenius) providing for the upbringing of children within the family until the age of six.
(2) A preschool institution in France and certain other countries that accepts children between the ages of two and six. Similar to the maternal schools are the young children’s classes attached to primary schools which enroll children of four years of age.
