Abbas, Khwaja Ahmad
Born June 7, 1914. Indian producer, director, scriptwriter, and author.
Abbas began his literary career in 1935. He participated in the founding of the Association of Popular Theaters of India in 1943. In 1946 he made a film based on one of his own scripts, called Children of the Land. He directed the films Wayfarer (1953; Soviet release under the title Ganga), Munna (1954), Walking Over Three Seas (1958; directed with the Soviet producer V. M. Pronin and written with M. N. Smirnova), The City and the Dream (1963), 11,000 Girls (1963), and others. He wrote scripts for the films History of Doctor Kotnis (1946), The Vagabond (1951), Mister 420 (1955), and others. He is a member of the World Peace Council (1958).
