National Committee for the Liberation of Yugoslavia

the first provisional revolutionary government of people’s Yugoslavia, created by a decision of the second session of the Antifascist National-liberation Council of Yugoslavia (Nov. 29–30, 1943) in the part of the country that had been liberated from the fascist occupation forces. Its chairman was J. Broz Tito.

Under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, the committee led the struggle against the fascist invaders, directed the work on the reorganization of the country’s economic and cultural life, and fought for international recognition of democratic Yugoslavia. On Mar. 7, 1945, the government of the Democratic Federation of Yugoslavia was organized on the basis of the committee.
