Matsung Shan

Matsung Shan

 

a mountain range in China in the Pei Shan highland. Length, approximately 200 km; elevation, to 2,791 m (Mount Matsungshan, the highest point of the entire highland). The range consists of individual crests with relative elevations of 700-900 m, divided by erosional gullies. It is composed primarily of Paleozoic sandstones, schists, and limestones. Rocky deserts predominate; there are meadows and trees on the peaks.
