Omach

Omach

a wooden agricultural implement of the sokha (wooden plow) type for deep plowing, sometimes with a metal share. It differs from the conventional plow in the absence of a moldboard and from the sokha in the presence of a foot, which gives it considerable stability, making possible maintenance of a straight furrow and better regulation of the depth of tillage. In the past the omach was common among farming peoples of Middle Asia, such as the Uzbeks. At present, omach plowing implements are used on small farms in Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, India, and other countries.
