Lithuanian State Regional Electric Power Plant

(full name, V. I. Lenin Lithuanian State Regional Electric Power Plant), a thermal condensation power plant in the settlement of Elektrėnai in the Lithuanian SSR, 50 km from Vilnius. The rated power of the plant is 1,800 megawatts (MW).

The Lithuanian State Regional Electric Power Plant was built in two stages. The first stage consists of four power units of 150 MW each and two units of 300 MW each; the second stage consists of two power units of 300 MW each. Construction began in 1960. The rated power of the first stage was attained in 1968; that of the second stage, in 1972. Fuel oil and natural gas are used. Water is supplied from a man-made reservoir that draws water from local lakes. Control of all technological processes is automated. The plant is part of the unified power grid of the Northwest.
