Lithuanian White Hog

a breed of hogs raised for meat. Lithuanian White hogs were produced in the Lithuanian SSR by crossing domestic hogs with the Yorkshire, or Large White, breed; the breed was confirmed in 1967. Lithuanian Whites, a bacon type of swine, have a strong constitution. The body is long and round, with a straight back and well-developed hams. Adult boars weigh up to 330 kg, and adult sows up to 250 kg. There are 11 or 12 shoats in a litter. Milk production is 70–80 kg. Shoats being fattened for bacon reach a weight of 95 kg in 180 days (with average daily weight gains of 700–750 g and outlays of 3.8–4 feed units for each kg of weight gained). The dressed yield is 80–85 percent; the meat yield is 53–54 percent. Lithuanian Whites are raised in the Lithuanian SSR.
