Matveev Kurgan

an urban-type settlement; center of Matveev Kurgan Raion, Rostov Oblast, RSFSR. Situated on the Mius River in the Azov Basin. Railroad station on the Ilovaisk Taganrog line, 96 km northwest of the city of Rostov-on-Don. Population, 11,300 (1970). There is a building-materials combine, an asphalt and concrete plant, meat and poultry and foodprocessing combines, and a creamery.
