Location:In the northeast corner of Washington, along the Little Pend Oreille River.
Facilities:Visitor contact station, viewing sites, hiking trails, campgrounds, auto tour route.
Activities:Boating, canoeing, fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, horseback riding, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, educational programs.
Special Features:Refuge lakes and marshes provide a spring and fall stopover point for migratory waterfowl. In combination with adjacent lands, the refuge provides for species that require large tracts of forest.
Habitats: 40,198 acres of mountainous forests interspersed with grasslands, at elevations ranging from 1,800 to 5,600 feet.
Access: Open 24 hours a day.
Wild life: Threatened Canada lynx, white-tailed deer. Also provides habitat for moose, black bear, great horned owl, woodpeckers, bluebirds, chipmunks, beavers, and wild turkey.
