metroAn underground railway transit system typically serving metropolitan cities. A term more common in Europe, due to the prevalence of such railway systems there. The only place I could afford in Paris was nowhere near the metro, so it takes a long time to commute into work.metros (ˈmɛtroz) n. the police; the metropolitan police.
