ENT A procedure for treating serous otitis media by lasering a hole in the tympanic membrane–myringotomy without inserting ventilation tubes; the opening allows drainage and endoscopic evaluation of the middle ear; it remains open for wks, followed by spontaneous and complete healing of the tympanic membrane; LM is done in a physician's office (surgery for the Brits) under local anesthesia on Pts > age 6.
