Ore Yard

a part of a blast-furnace plant located near the blast furnaces—usually along the front of the furnaces—and used for storing raw-material stocks. An unloading gantry is located at one side of the ore yard, and bunkers for receiving the furnace charge are on the other side. The furnace charge is introduced into the furnace from the bunkers. A bridge loading crane spans the width of the ore yard.
