Ocagne, Maurice D’
Born Mar. 25, 1862, in Paris; died Oct. 23, 1938, in Le Havre. French mathematician. Member of the Académie des Sciences in Paris (1922).
D’Ocagne is known for his works in nomography. Between 1884 and 1890 he discovered a general method of constructing nomographs from aligned points and laid the foundation for the general theory of nomograph construction. He was the author of works on descriptive, differential, and projective geometry; graphic statics; and graphical and graphomechanical methods of computation.
