Liuchou

(Liuchow), a city in South China, in the Kwangsi Chuang Autonomous Region, on the Liu River, a tributary of the Hsi. Population, 217,000 (1957). A transportation junction and a center of the timber industry, the city has woodworking and paper industries, ferrous and nonferrous metallurgical enterprises, and factories producing inorganic fertilizers and cement.
