Livani

a city in Preiji Raion, Latvian SSR. Situated on the right bank of the Daugava (Zapadnaia Dvina) River at its confluence with the Dubna River. Railroad station on the Riga-Daugavpils line. The city has a glassworks, a plant producing building materials, a biochemical plant, and a peat-processing enterprise. Līvāni took shape in the 16th century; it has been a city since 1926.
