Mexican National Museum of Anthropology
one of the largest collections of ancient Mexican and ancient American art. It was founded in 1865 in Mexico City. In 1964 the collection was moved to a new building in Chapultepec Park (architect P. Ramírez Vázquez). It is attached to the National Institute of Anthropology and History. The museum has a vast collection of archaeology and ethnology (approximately 600,000 pieces). Its library has holdings of about 300,000 volumes. The museum’s publications include Cuadernos del Museo National de Antropologia and Guides.
