Maginot, Adèle
Maginot, Adèle
(religion, spiritualism, and occult)Adèle Maginot was the first French medium to have her phenomena recorded and strictly tested. She had been psychic from childhood and met Alphonse Cahagnet (1809–1885), who published the first book on spirit communications in 1848 (Magnétisme Arcanes de la vie future dévoilé—translated as The Celestial Telegraph). Maginot served as a channel for spirit communications for Cahagnet, and from the summer of 1848, she put many people in contact with their departed loved ones. She was apparently a fine clairvoyant. She was also able to locate missing persons who were still alive on this plane. Nandor Fodor said, “Adèle was put into trance. She saw the spirits of the departed, described them and gave an intimate knowledge of their family circumstances.”
