Mixed Medical Commission

Mixed Medical Commission

A group of medical doctors who regularly visited prisoner-of-war camps during World War 2 for the purpose of deciding who among the sick and wounded were to be repatriated, including obvious (limbless, blind, active tuberculosis) and less obvious cases (e.g., peptic ulcer disease, renal failure). One doctor of the group was appointed by the detaining country (e.g., Britain, Germany), and the two others were appointed from a neutral country (e.g., Switzerland).
