Nikolai Nikolaevich Abramov
Abramov, Nikolai Nikolaevich
Born Feb. 10 (23), 1901, in Moscow. Soviet scientist in the field of water resources and urban and industrial water supply. Doctor of technical sciences (1941). Member of the CPSU since 1945.
In 1926, Abramov graduated from the Moscow Higher Technical School as a civil engineer. Since 1927 he has been involved in the planning and construction of water systems for the largest industrial enterprises and cities in the USSR. He began teaching at higher educational institutions in 1933, and in 1942 he became professor and head of the subdepartment of water supply at the Moscow Civil Engineering Institute. His major scientific works deal with the problems of transporting large volumes of water, choosing optimum water supply systems, and working out the methods of their hydraulic, technical, and economic design. He was awarded the Order of Lenin, two other orders, and various medals.
