Ob Trench
Ob’ Trench
a series of narrow depressions in the ocean floor in the eastern part of the Indian Ocean. The trench extends for almost 1,000 km along the Western Australian Ridge. A maximum depth of 5,880 m was recorded by the research vessel Vitiaz’m 1965. The trench was discovered by a Soviet expedition on the diesel-electric ship Ob’ in 1957.
