New Classicism

(1982–)A final phase of Postmodernism that led to a new form of Classicism, a freestyle version of the traditional language. It combines two purist styles—Classicism and Modernism— and adds new forms based on new technologies and social usage. Previous rules of composition are not disregarded but rather extended and distorted. Among those architects identified with this style are James Stirling, Robert Venturi, Michael Graves, Charles Moore and Arata Isozaki.
