[mag¦nēd·ō‚hī·drə·dī′nām·ik ‚in·stə′bil·əd·ē] (plasma physics) An instability of a plasma in which the plasma expands while moving into a region of weaker magnetic field, until it is expelled from the field. Also known as hydromagnetic instability.
