Livingstone

(Maramba), a city in Zambia, on the left bank of the Zambezi River. Population, 43,000 (1969). Livingstone is linked by railroad with the cities of Lusaka (Zambia) and Bula-wayo (Rhodesia) and the seacoast of the Indian Ocean. Sawmilling and woodworking enterprises and a tobacco factory are there. The city is one of the country’s tourist centers. Founded in 1905, it was named for D. Livingstone.
