Latin American Confederation of Trade Unions

an association of trade unions from a number of Latin American countries. It was active from 1929 to 1936 and was aligned with the Red International of Trade Unions. The confederation, which had 100,000 members in the early 1930’s, helped to develop trade union personnel and contributed to the growth of international solidarity and the strengthening of working-class unity based on anti-imperialism. Its struggle for the unity of the trade union movement of Latin America culminated in the creation of the Confederation of Workers of Latin America in 1938.
