Nikolai Vasilevich Baryshev

Baryshev, Nikolai Vasil’evich

 

Born 1880 in Moscow Province; died 1940. Soviet statesman and Party figure. Member of the Communist Party from 1902. Born into a peasant family. Metal craftsman and worker.

Bary shev was a participant in the December Armed Uprising of 1905 in Moscow and carried on Party work in Moscow and St. Petersburg. He was repeatedly subjected to repression. After the February Revolution of 1917 he became a member of the Petrograd Soviet and chairman of the factory committee of the Struk Factory. At the first city conference of factories and plants committees (in June 1917) Baryshev was elected to the central soviet of factory and plant committees. He formed Red Guard detachments and he participated in the October Revolution of 1917 in Petrograd. After 1918 he engaged in administrative economic work; and after 1932 he was the recipient of a special pension.
