Llangollen

(hlän-gôhl`ĕn, lăn-gôth`lĭn), town (1991 pop. 3,058), Denbighshire, NE Wales, at the head of the Vale of Llangollen on the Dee River. It is a resort for anglers and tourists interested in the antiquities in the vicinity, which include the castle Dinas Bran (13th cent.), the Pillar of Eliseg (the shaft of a cross dating probably from the 9th cent.), and Valle Crucis Abbey (1200).
