Maili-Sai

 

a city (since 1956) in Osh Oblast, Kirghiz SSR, located in the western foothills of the Fergana Range on the Mailisu River (a tributary of the Karadar’ia), 60 km north of the Andizhan railroad station. Population, 25,000 (1972). Electric lamp and electrical insulation materials plants, a meat-packing plant, and a clothing factory are located there. A steam power plant is also in the city. Maili-Sai has an electromechanical technicum and a medical school. Nearby, oil and gas are extracted; a gas pipeline runs from Maili-Sai to Osh.
