Mayarí

a city in eastern Cuba on the Mayarí River, in the province of Oriente. Population, 34,000 (municipio, 1970). Local industry includes the meat, leather footwear, tobacco, and construction materials industries, and a house building combine. Mayarí is the center of an agricultural region (sugarcane, tobacco, fruit, livestock raising).
