Othris

Othris

 

a mountain range in Greece separating the Plain of Thessaly and the Sperkhios River valley. The range is approximately 90 km long, with elevations to 1,726 m. It is composed of crystalline rocks, with overlying sandstones, schists, and limestones in the west. Mediterranean-type shrubs and isolated oak groves grow on the slopes; fir groves are found at altitudes above 1,000 m. There are winter pastures in the range.
