Abd Al-Razzak

Abd Al-Razzak

 

of Samarkand. Born 1413 in Herat; died there in 1482. Middle Asian historian.

Abd Al-Razzak spent most of his life in Samarkand. He also lived in India (1441–4) and Gilan (1446). In 1463 he became sheikh of Herat. Abd Al-Razzak was the author of a historical chronicle, The Place of Rising of Two Lucky Stars and the Place of Merging of Two Seas, written in the period from 1467 to 1471, which embraces the history of the Mongols, Timur, and the Timurids from 1304 to 1471.
