The area's cultural traditions have been shaped by Native Americans, frontier settlements, the French and Indian War, African Americans and the Underground Railroad, and Swedish and Polish immigration. The NHA designation will enhance the current efforts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, volunteer organizations, and private businesses to interpret, preserve, enhance, and promote the cultural, national, and recreational resources of the region to residents and visitors.
