New Hebrides Trench

a depression in the floor of the southwestern Pacific Ocean that stretches along the New Hebrides Islands for almost 2,000 km. It has a V-shaped cross section and a fairly narrow bottom that is flat in places and divided by sills. Its maximum depth is 9,165 m.
