Nebrodi


Nebrodi

 

(also Caronie), a mountain range in northeastern Sicily (Italy). The range is approximately 80 km long and has elevations to 1,847 m (Mount Sori). It is composed of schists, sandstones, and flysch; the peaks consist of limestones. The northern slopes are covered by vineyards, olive groves, and Sicily’s largest forests (oak, beech, chestnut); on the southern slopes there is Mediterranean shrub vegetation.
