Movius, Hallam L. Movius, Hallam L. (Leonard, Jr.)(1907–87) archaeologist; born in Newton, Mass. He was a Harvard professor (1930–77) and curator at the Peabody Museum (1950–77). A leading authority on Stone Age Ireland and France, he was best known for his work on Périgordian and Aurignacian cultures in France, where his annual excavations at Abri Pataud (1958–73) became a celebrated training ground for students. |
