local action[′lō·kəl ′ak·shən] (electricity) Internal losses of a battery caused by chemical reactions producing local currents between different parts of a plate. Quantitatively, the percentage loss per month in the capacity of a battery on open circuit, or the amount of current needed to keep the battery fully charged.
