Maisonneuve fracture

A spiral fracture of the proximal third of the fibula near the head accompanied by tearing of the interosseous membrane and distal tibiofibular syndesmosis, and usually accompanied by a deltoid ligament tear or medial malleolar fracture, thus requiring three views of the ankle as well as a full-length AP tibia/fibula view to evaluate patients with ankle fractures.
