Maiuri, Amedeo

 

Born Jan. 7, 1886, in Veroli, near Frosi-none; died Apr. 7, 1963, in Naples. Italian archaeologist.

Maiuri was director of the archaeological museum on the island of Rhodes from 1916 to 1924 and of the National Museum in Naples from 1924 to 1963. He was in charge of archaeological excavations in Pompeii and Herculaneum.
