Location:On the west side of the Kenai Peninsula, about 40 miles south of Soldotna on Sterling Highway.
Facilities:4 camping areas (some sites @di), picnic sites at Ninilchik Campground(é) and Ninilchik Overlook, picnic shelter (é) at NinilchikCampground, toilets (é), drinking water, boat launch at NinilchikBeach site, scenic overlook.
Activities:Camping, fishing (except at Ninilchik View Campground), clamming, ATV riding (on saltwater beaches only).
Special Features:Ninilchik is the site of world class salmon and halibut fishing. Parkvistas include Mount Iliamna and Mount Redoubt, both active volcanoes.Nearby is historical Ninilchik Village, originally settled by Russiancolonists, and a Russian Orthodox Church built in 1900. The nameNinilchik means "peaceful settlement by a river."
