local authority mortuary

A non-hospital mortuary defined under the Public Health Act 1936 (UK) as a place provided by a local authority or a parish council for
(1) the reception of dead bodies before interment; or
(2) a post-mortem room for the reception of dead bodies during the time required to conduct any post-mortem examination ordered by a coroner or other duly authorised authority.
Local authority mortuaries may make by-laws with respect to the management, and may charge for the use of any such place provided.
