Neck yoke
Neck yokeA wooden beam or pole about three feet long with specialized iron fittings on each end and at the middle. (See Neck yoke attachment and Neck yoke ferrule and ring.) The Tongue of the implement to be pulled was attached to the middle of the Yoke, and one of the yoke ends was attached to the hames of the harness of the horse on that side of the tongue. The other end of the yoke was similarly attached to the hames of the horse on the other side of the tongue.EncyclopediaSeeneck |
