Annenkov Island


Annenkov Island

 

an island in the Scotia Sea, 15 km from the southwest coast of South Georgia Island. Annenkov Island is 5 km long and 3 km wide and has an elevation of up to 650 m. It was discovered in 1819 by the Russian antarctic expedition of F. G. Bellingshausen and M. P. Lazarev and is named after Lieutenant M. Annenkov, who participated in the expedition.
