Lazurkina, Dora Abramovna

(party pseudonym, Sonia). Born Apr. 25 (May 7), 1884, in Novozybkov, now in Briansk Oblast; died Jan. 24, 1974, in Leningrad. Participant in the revolutionary movement in Russia. Member of the Communist Party from 1902.

Lazurkina was engaged in party work in Odessa (she was connected with the foreign bureau of the central committee of the RSDLP) and Ekaterinoslav (now Dnepropetrovsk) as a member of the committee of the RSDLP, as well as in St. Petersburg and Moscow. She was repeatedly arrested. In 1917 she was a member of the Petrograd Committee of the RSDLP (Bolshevik) and a member of the Petrograd central municipal council. She was an active participant in the October Revolution of 1917. From 1918 to 1922 she directed the preschool division of the People’s Commissariat for Education and then was engaged in party work in Leningrad. From 1922 to 1932 she was a member of the Leningrad oblast party control commission, and from 1932 to 1934 she was deputy secretary of the party collegium of the oblast control commission. She received a merit pension from 1956. She was a delegate to the Sixth, Seventeenth, and Twenty-second Party Congresses. She was awarded the Order of Lenin.
