Banks for Cooperatives

Twelve privately-owned banks sponsored by the U.S. federal government that provide financing to American farmers. They make loans to farmers for marketing and supply purposes, as well as to rural utility companies. They pay for their operations through bonds and other debt securities issued by a federal farm credit bank. Banks for cooperatives were created in 1933.

Banks for Cooperatives (COOP)

Twelve regional, privately owned, government-sponsored banks that make loans to farm cooperatives. The loans are financed primarily by the sale of debt securities issued by the Federal Farm Credit Bank.
