Osnabrück Congress

Osnabrück Congress

a congress held in the German city of Osnabrück, Westphalia, from 1645 to 1648. Negotiations were held between representatives of Sweden and the German Protestant princes, on the one hand, and representatives of the Holy Roman Emperor, on the other. As a result of the negotiations at Osnabrück and at Münster, the Treaty of Westphalia was signed in 1648, putting an end to the Thirty Years’ War (1618–18).
