[′läkt ¦äs·ə‚lād·ər di‚tek·tər] (electronics) A frequency-modulation detector in which a local oscillator follows, or is locked to, the input frequency; the phase difference between local oscillator and input signal is proportional to the frequency deviation, and an output voltage is generated proportional to the phase difference.
