Abdullaev, Khabib Mukhammedovich

 

Born July 18 (31), 1912, in Osh; died June 20, 1962. Soviet geologist. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR (1947); corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1958); president of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR (1956). Member of the CPSU from 1941.

Abdullaev graduated from the geological department of the Middle Asian Industrial Institute in 1936. He has been teaching since 1936, first at the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute and since 1940 at the geological department of the Middle Asian Polytechnic Institute. He has developed theoretical research in petrology, the theory of ore layers, and the problems of skarns and related mineralization. He advanced the theory accounting for regularities in the formation and distribution of the most important minerals in the earth’s crust. He was elected a deputy to the fifth convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He was awarded the Lenin Prize (1959) for work on the role of granitoids in postmagmatic ore formation and has received the Order of Lenin and six other orders.
