NONRADAR

NONRADAR

A term that precedes other terms and generally means without use of radar, such as a nonradar approach in which course guidance for the final approach is not provided by ground-based radar, as in VOR (very high frequency omnidirectional radio-range), NDB (nondirectional beacon), TACAN (tactical air navigation), and ILS/MLS (instrument/microwave landing system) approaches; a nonradar arrival in which an aircraft arriving at an airport is not served by a radar facility and radar contact has either not been established or terminated because of a lack of radar service onto the airport; or a nonradar route and nonradar separation.
