Onoclea

a genus of ferns of the family Aspidiaceae. There is a single species, the sensitive fern (O. sensibilis), which is distributed in Asia and North America. In the USSR it grows in Transbaikalia, along the Amur River, in the Primor’e, in southern Sakhalin, and on the Kuril Islands. The sensitive fern is a low herbaceous plant. It has a horizontal rhizome, several sterile pinnatifid fronds, and a single bipinnate frond that bears the sporangia. The sensitive fern grows in clusters in meadows, in mossy marshes, along rivers, and in mixed forests. It is cultivated as an ornamental.
